He was predeceased by: his parents, William Phelps and Fern Lindamood Phelps; his son Don Phelps; his stepson Salvador Martinez; and his brother Lloyd Phelps.
He is survived by: his former wife Janie Phelps; his stepson Lyndon Phelps; his son Tommy Phelps; his daughter-in-law Rachelle; and his grandchildren, Tamra, April and Shasta. He is also survived by grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Times were tough but the family did well through hard work and in no small measure thanks to the efforts of his mother Fern who would bake pies for the local grocery stores and would donate some of the proceeds to the destitute.
