She was predeceased by: her husband Robert D. Chavez; her parents, Andres Benavides and Antonia Benavides; her son Stevie Chavez; her granddaughter Raeanna Martinez; and her brother-in-law Orlando Baros.

She is survived by: her children, Dennis Chavez, Rudy Chavez (Doris) and JoAnn Martinez (Lloyd); her grandchildren, Denise, Rosanna, Antonio, Donna (Adrian), Steven (Andrea), Rudy Eugene, Christopher, Ramey and Joseph; and her great grandchildren, Damicka, Alex, Matthew, Alyssa Rae, Brisa and Daisy.
