He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonardo Avila and Trinidad Avila (Chavez); his son John C. Avila; and his siblings, Anita Arenas, Donaciana Hill, Adelina Sandoval, Carmen Brusuelas, Maria Elena Gonzalez, Leonardo Avila Jr., Joe Avila, Louis Avila and Pedro Avila.
He is survived by: his wife Oralia Avila of Alamogordo, NM; his daughter Theresa Neussendorfer; his son-in-law Richard Neussendorfer of Alamogordo, NM.; his grandchildren, Caleb and Jonah Nessendorfer; and his sisters, Presiliana Velasco of Alamogordo, NM and Margaret Hernandez Vigil of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
