She was predeceased by: her parents, James Sherrod and Jettie Sherrod (Thornton); and her brother Robert Allen Sherrod. She is survived by: her children, Mary Beth Garrett (James), Kathryn McVey and Mark Purifoy (Melinda). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
