He was predeceased by: his parents, Jennie Hamersma and Charles Hamersma; his siblings, John Hamersma, Claire Chaparian, Martha Hamersma and Jessie Hamersma; and his niece Karen Klein.
He is survived by: his nieces, Cathy Clark, Cindy Saunders, Kristin Cross and Shelly Spalding.
