He is survived by: his wife Diane; his parents, Kathleen Ridkes and Howard Ridkes; his uncle Lindsay Conner; his aunt Barbara; his cousin Lindsay Conner; his siblings-in-law, Tony, Denise Giannone, Kristen Hindley (Michael) and Anthony Giannone (Ariane); his niece Julianna Hindley; and his nephew Dylan Hindley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a fund for Micaela and Joseph.

“I was new in 4th grade and we were sat by our last names so I was assigned a seat next to Ridkes. I knew no one and my mom just dropped me off at school. Once I sat down Ridkes started talking my ear off with a giant smile on his face, with no encouragement from the teacher. He was just that kind. I felt safe. He made me feel welcomed all just by being himself. So friendly, so kind, so warm. I still think of him exactly how I remember him from that day. Someone so special will not be forgotten.”
