He was predeceased by: his parents, Alease Tucker and Hilliard Gathers; his daughter Rev. Cynthia L. Gathers; his granddaughter Miss Joh'Nette D. Gathers; and his siblings-in-law, Paul Faust, Lawrence Spruel, Anna Faust and Peggy Butler.
He is survived by: his wife Wilhelmina Gathers; his children, Ruth A. Nuby (John), Tessa Howard, Alice Woods, Jesse Howard and Raiford Smith; his cousin Helen Moss; and his sisters, Patricia Green and Diane Lewis. He is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, and 15 Great Grand Children, 1 sister, 5 brothers-in-law's, 8 sisters-in-law's, numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
