He was predeceased by: his father Joseph H. McCarty; and his sister Sharon Stabb. He is survived by: his wife Donna Kaminiski McCarty; his children, Wayne J. McCarty, Jr. (Carolea) and Donna McCarty; his grandchildren, Justin, Nathan (Nicholas McCarty), Stephanie McCarty and Steven Gurnick (Matthew McVey); and his siblings, Lois McCarty and Joseph McCarty.
