He was predeceased by: his parents, George A. Powers and Eleanor Powers (Wilson); his son George "Chip" Powers Jr.; and his sister Arlene Leslie. He is survived by: his wife Maureen Powers (Westrol); his daughter Karen Powers Boyle (Tim); his granddaughters, Taylor Powers and Dana Gelber (Scott); and his great grandchildren, Vanessa and Russel Gelber. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
