Merkel Sr. (Westwood, New Jersey), born in Wood Ridge, New Jersey, who passed away on August 19, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph and Florence; and his siblings, Richard Merkel, Barbra Trader and Betty Wright.

He is survived by: his son Joe; his wife Diane; his sons, Ron Jr. (Colleen Merkel), Oates, Darrell, Joseph (Shannon Casey) and Glenn; and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Aidan, Reese, Riley and Keira Merkel.
