He was predeceased by: his former wife Barbara; his wife Laufey; his brother Enrico Messina; and his parents, Louis Messina and Antoinette Messina.
He is survived by: his children, James Messina (Jean), Fred Messina (Dolores), Kathleen Harris (Scott) and Robert Messina (Cindy); his grandchildren, Ryan (Lynette), John, Eric (Jessica), Jacqueline, Tim, Jason (Heather), Kaitlyn (Edmund), Christine (John), Joseph (Kim) and Kevin; his great grandchildren, Olivia, Makenzie, Emma, Lucas, Mason, Logan and Evan; and his stepchildren, Eleni Whitewolf, Hilda Paulhus (late Michael) and Henry Mulder (Laura).
