“Dear VanHouten family, my name is John Thomas. I met Carol about thirty years ago while I was cutting lawns on Packanack Lake Road in Wayne. Carol stopped to ask me if I would cut her lawn. Carol became one of the nicest customers I ever had and became a good friend. I just saw Carol in the beginning of December to check the air in her tires, something I did for Carol for years. It was a pleasure to help Carol whenever I could. Carol will be missed dearly. May Carol rest in peace.”

“Carol was one of my best friends at Anthony Wayne Junior High School in Wayne. She was my “campaign manager” when I ran for treasurer. We played softball together on Wayne”s first girls traveling softball team in 1968 and stayed friends throughout high school. Carol was a wonderful person, a good friend with a huge heart. She will be missed. 🥲”
