She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Catterall and Helen Catterall; and her brother Joseph. She is survived by: her husband Kevin of Watchung; her daughter Maureen of Boston, MA; her sisters, Barbara Catterall of Edison and Ellen D'Amato (Ray) of Westfield; and her nephew Alex of Austin, TX. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

Donations honoring Joan's memory may be sent to the Keegan Family Fund for Faculty Excellence at the Darden School Foundation.
