He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark C. Howell and Edna P. "Rush" Howell; his former wife Helen Berger Thomas; and his wife Laura Bakley Howell. He is survived by: his children, Paula DeBenedetto (Peter), Robert Howell Jr. (Linda) and Donald Howell; his stepson Robert Bakley; and his siblings, Walter Howell and Carol Roiger. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter.
