He was predeceased by: his father Stanisław Gacek; his brother Stanisław Gacek; and his brother-in-law Stanisław Bryjak. He is survived by: his mother Maria Gacek (Bzdyk); his children, Krystyna, Krzysztof (Vilma), Katarzyna and Joanna; his grandchildren, Adam, Patrick, Adrian, Victoria and Jacob; his sisters, Zofia, Ludmiła, Maria and Agnieszka; and his close friend Mirosława.
