He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Helen Spence; his sons, Michael Spence (Irina), Andrew Spence (Bridgette), Matthew Spence (Linda) and Steven Spence; his brothers, Dennis Spence (Kimberly), John Spence (Geraldine) and George Spence; and his grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, James, Rebecca, Chloe, Zoya, Nikolai, Elizabeth, Kathryn and Grace. He was also cherished by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Saint Francis de Sales School in Philadelphia.
