He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosa P. Smith and Sidney Williams; his siblings, Boone, Eddie, Osco and Lorene; and his sister-in-law Beanie.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Williams; his children, Lamont Solomon, Stephanie Davis, Rodney Davis (Mary) and Johnette Mays Cotton; his grandchildren, Westley Ellison, Deandre Solomon (Vicky), Lashelle Thompson, Dominique Solomon, Jenna Whalen, Adonijah Davis, Leah Whalen, Eden Davis and Micah Davis; his great grandchildren, Deandre Solomon Jr. and Joshua Thompson; his siblings, James and Naomi Steele (Marvin); and his sisters-in-law, Angela Smith and Evelyn Williams. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
