She was predeceased by: her parents, Dominga Mendez and Serapio Mendez; her siblings, Angel Mendez, Aurelio Mendez, Guillermo Mendez, Cheo Mendez, Juan Mendez, Moncho Mendez, David Mendez and Dominga Guzman (Ita); and her daughter Damaris Cortes.
She is survived by: her son Jason Cortes; the father of her children Nelson Cortes of Vineland; her sons, Nelson Cortes Jr. and Carlos J. Cortes; her granddaughter Jaylyn Diamaris Cortes; and her siblings, Antonia Mendez (Toña) and Lorenzo Mendez.
