He was predeceased by: his parents, Maria Alicea and Juan Ortiz; and his sons, Eliezer (Sandra), Henry and William.

He is survived by: his wife Manuela Ortiz; and his stepchildren, Luis (Felicia), Yolanda (Dennis), Orlando (Aida), Hilda and John (Gladys). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren.
