He was predeceased by: his wife Constance (Connie); his former wife Nancy DelRusso; his son Douglas Smith; and his grandchildren, Dougie, Peyton, Paige, Zoe, Cecelia, Sonia, Andrew, Richard, Christopher, Marissa and Thomas.

He is survived by: his sister Dolores Brooks.
