He was predeceased by: his parent Carl (Teresa Larsen); his sisters, Theresa and Ingrid; and his grandson Eric Casey. He is survived by: his caregivers, Aggie and Breanne; and his friend Kathleen Sawick. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“This is a loss. As a teacher of mine in high school, Carl was irascible, tough, funny, connectable, and always inspiring. And his warm-heartedness shown through it all. I still have a few of those smelly purple mimeographs he handed out with his favorite quotes from St. Vincent Millay or Cavafy or Donne or Santayana. And I still enjoy reading them from time to time. Great seeing him at reunions and speaking by phone from time to time. I will continue to think of him with great fondness.”
