He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. Rothermel and Mary Rothermel (Leary); his former wife Lorraine Rothermel (Engel); his sister Mary Wetzel; and his stepchildren, George and James Pezet.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Anne Rothermel (Pezet); his children, Gary Rothermel (Heidi) of Crystal Lake, Brian Rothermel of Keansburg and Gail Strydio (Jim) of Middletown; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kelsey Strydio, Jeffrey and Douglas Rothermel; his great grandchild Emily; his grandchildren, George, Jennifer, Jimmy, Julia Pezet and Liane Vandevander; and his great grandchildren, Lucy, Buddie Pezet, Layton and Lucas Vandevander.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made in his honor to Alzheimer's & Dementia Research | Alzheimer's Association Alz.org.
