He is survived by: his wife Georgia W. Parham; his children, Gaye Taylor, Alvin Nelson (Nichelle), Glenn Parham and Gary Parham; his grandchildren, Major Jennifer Blackwell, Jonathan Blackwell (Aurora), Ashley Parham, Brandice, Alvin, III and Charis Nelson; and his great grandchildren, Bronx, Miles, Lorenzo Blackwell, Nalani Parham and James Jr.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
