He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Mongan and Marion Mongan (Sullivan); and his sisters, Dolores, Eileen, Marion and Sandra.

He is survived by: his wife Marian; his daughter Kathleen O'Brien (William); his granddaughters, Sharon Pavlicin (Andrew) and Erin O'Brien; his great grandchild Faye Pavlicin; and his sister Mary Ellen.
