He was predeceased by: his wife Bernice Nixon; his parents, Floyette Dorsey-Taylor (James) and Madison Spain; his foster parents, William Nixon and Ellen Nixon; his foster brother Robert Davis; his son Ernest Taylor; and his grandchildren, Darcel Gardenhire and Aaron Taylor.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donise Nixon and Mildred Taylor; his foster sister Kay Wanda Brooks; his grandchildren, Lenore Taylor-Foy, Timothy Wiley, Tina Jones, Asia Taylor, Tyrone Smith, Larry Nixon, Sherron Taylor, Nikiah King and Alisha Taylor; his niece Regina Brooks Wheeler; and his close friend Claire.
