He was predeceased by: his parents, Zocorro Mendez and Julia Abrego Mendez; and his sister Reina Abrego. He is survived by: his wife Maria A. Nimatuj Mendez; his son Gilbert Mendez (Roxana); his grandchildren, Diego, Daniel, Anthony, Angel, Cristian and John; and his brother Oscar Mendez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
