He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Bohnsack and Thomas Herbert Hofmann; his stepfather Rolf Bohnsack; and his half-brother Joaquin. He is survived by: his wife Sandra E. Hofmann; his son Jess Hofmann; and his daughter-in-law Jennifer Donovan.
