He was predeceased by: his wife Carol; and his sisters, Kathryn Mead and Eunice Kaplan. He is survived by: his sons, James Bechtle, Jr. (Yvonne), Daniel Bechtle (Kathleen) and Mark Bechtle (Jennifer); his siblings, Samuel Bechtle (Lois) of Tennessee and Edith Yerike; his grandchildren, Ashley Bechtle, Bradley Bechtle (Laura), Joshua Bechtle, Zachary Bechtle (Kate), Hunter Bechtle, Kyle Bechtle (Serena Kohr) and Alex Bechtle; and his great grandchild Alphonse.
