He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Lay of Hāwera, NZ and Florence Hilda Lay of Kidsgrove, England.. He is survived by: his wife Frances Lay; his sons, Daniel Thomas (Jennifer), Andrew Clive and Aaron Francis (Magdalena); his grandchildren, Sebastian, Finnegan, Eleonora, Maximilian, Olivia and Oakley; and his sisters, Cynthia Alexander and Daphne Searle (Peter). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, December 27th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bongarzone Funeral Home (2400 Shafto Rd, Tinton Falls, NJ 07712). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Parish of St. Mary (1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck, NJ 07722). A burial was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Saint Anne's Cemetery (1610 Allenwood Rd, Wall Township, NJ 07719).
