“Our sincere condolences. She was my favorite teacher (Teaneck in the mid 80’s, Denise Catlaw at the time). Her smile, kindness, patience - she radiated beauty inside and out (always had the best clothes and perfume). I was so fond of everything about her that I even used to practice writing just like her. I remember the day she told us she was getting married and her name was changing to Sherman. She raved about her sons and the stepsons that would soon become her family. A blessing to all.”

“Please accept my sincerest condolences and sympathies. My heart aches at the thought that my friend is gone. Denise was a colleague, but more importantly she was a friend. Denise and I retired from Teaneck together. When I told her I was leaving she said, 'not without me!' We handed in our papers together and bonded in retirement together with many phone conversations and lunches together. I will miss my dear friend immensely. May she rest in peace.”

“I cannot express how much I loved Denise. She was always so wonderful and warm to me. We had so many fun times through the years. She gave great hugs, wonderful gifts and was always ready with kind words or the best zingers as appropriate. We shared our Jersey City roots and I always appreciated her underlying chutzpah beneath the sweet delicate exterior. I could never repay that she was with me at the worst moment of my life and somehow got me through it. I loved her very much!”
