It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mell Vera Alston (Summit, New Jersey), born in Toccoa, Georgia, who passed away on February 18, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Thurman Pulliam and Lois Pulliam; her former husband Howard Charles Byrd; and her siblings, Talmadge, Leroy, Harold, James Pulliam and Lula Johnson.
She is survived by: her husband Kenneth B Alston, Sr.; her children, Darlene, Dawn, Calvin, Kenny, Tyrone, Matthew and Veronica; and her sisters, Reba Holmes of Cary, NC and Mary Wiley (Morris Plains).
