He was predeceased by: his parents, Alberico Mele and Filomena Mele (Marino); and his wife Angelina Mele (Conturso). He is survived by: his children, Filomena Scicchitano (Louis), Alberico Mele, Joseph Mele (Janice) and John Mele (Jill); his grandchildren, Justin, Vincent, Emma, Seane, Danielle, Michael, Stephanie, Claire and Alexandra; and his siblings, Gemma Marra, Elvira Sarno and Antonio Mele. He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
