He was predeceased by: his foster parents, Albert Schmidt and Theresa Schmidt of Monroe Township; and his brothers, James Briner and Gary Schmidt. He is survived by: his brother John Schoonmaker of Hudson, FL; his niece Jessica; his nephew Kevin Schoonmaker; his aunt Mary Schmidt of Phoenixville, PA.; and his cousins, Karen, Patrick Gately of Downingtown, PA, Jeff Schmidt of Phoenixville, PA, Judy Guzy, Barbara King (Les), Rick Guzy and Jeff Guzy (Laura).
