He was predeceased by: his sister Kathryn Scheel Reydel (William Reydel); and his parents, Frederick C. Scheel and Katherine Scheel of Garrison. He is survived by: his wife Jane Gilligan; his brother William Scheel (Valerie Scheel); his siblings-in-law, Vincent Gilligan (Deborah Bartlett), Nancy Pisauro (Joseph Pisauro) and Sheila Gilligan (Charles Gormally); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Hunter Ferrell, Henry Ferrell, Rowan Stack, Nolan Stack, Liam O'Connor, Quinn O'Connor and Cole Benton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
