He was predeceased by: his parents, Petro Kovalchuk and Eva Kovalchuk; and his wife Fioniya Kovalchuk (Konzumal). He is survived by: his children, Peter Kovalchuk (Galyna), Nina (Anatoliy Fabyanchuk) and Lyubov Papirnik. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
