It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Michael P. Lacosta Sr. of Somerville, New Jersey, born in Plainfield, New Jersey, who passed away at the age of 61, on April 29, 2021. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucy and Paul F. LaCosta Sr.; and his brother-in-law Michael D'Arco. He is survived by: his children, Erin and Michael; his siblings, Mary Ann D'Arco, Lucille Davino (Anthony), Paula LaCosta, Paul F. LaCosta Jr. (Susan), John LaCosta and Robert LaCosta (Vincezina); his nieces and nephews, Guinevere, Jessica, Angelique, Kelli, Lucy, John Peter, Maggie, Nicholas, Paul III and Isabella; and his friend Zoom. He is also survived by several cousins and good friends.

For social distancing purposes, his family (ONLY) will attend a funeral service on Friday May 7, 2021 at 10 am at Somerville's St. John's Episcopal Church where he was a parishioner.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Big Mike's honor to St. John's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.

“I do not know how it began, but Mike and I would joyously insult each other, whenever we met, filling our bellies with the multi-grained cereal of laughter. It was all healthy and good. We both knew the world had become ridiculously prohibitive, and we had to mock and laugh at it to endure. Some of the needed mirth of the universal maverick is now gone.
