She was predeceased by: her husband Conneil Gavin; her son James Darrel Smith; her parents, Henry Smith and Geneva Smith; and her siblings, Mary Nick and Henry Smith, Jr..

She is survived by: her children, Cynthia Earvin (Zackary) of South River, Jacqueline Smith, Mary J. Smith of Hamilton and Benjamin Smith of East Orange, NJ; her stepchildren, Conneil Gavin of New Brunswick, Pamela Gavin of Somerset and Kelly Gavin of Loris, SC; her grandsons, Clifton and Ahmir Smith; her siblings, Richard, John Smith, Betty Tumi of Huger, SC, Elder Silas Smith (Elder B. Smith) of Linden, NJ and Lucille Brown of Charleston, SC; her aunts, Liza Stafford, Elder Valerie Dickerson and Etta Mae Clemens; and her cousin David Simmons.
