He was predeceased by: his parents, Yarema Popel and Olena Popel. He is survived by: his wife Vira Popel (Slobodian); his children, Taras Popel (Larissa), Andrea Popel and Melanie Pyrih (Adrian); his grandchildren, Michael Popel and Deanna Pyrih; his siblings, Marta Halarewycz, Andrew Popel, Lesia Schinnerer and Vira; and his brother-in-law Dan.
