He was predeceased by: his parents, Silvie Mae Johnson and Grover Burl; his children, Edward James Burl, John Carver Burl (Lili Ann) and Vanessa Andrews; his former wife Ina G. Burl; and his daughters, Gloria Deam, Debra Cotten (Kelvin), Charlotte Kelley (Robert) and Karen Johnson (Antonio).
He is survived by: his son George Carver Burl Jr.; his wife Virginia; and his sister Eddie Mae (S. T.). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
