He was predeceased by: his parents, Elson Ross and Upshaw-Ross of Louisiana; his former wife Evangelist Hattie Mae Ross; his sons, Ruben J. Nolan and David Ross; his siblings, Leon Ross (Buck), Harold LaMerle Ross, Claudie Mae Joyce, Ruth Hazel Moore (Mud), Mamie Ross and Dorothy Cicero; and his granddaughter Amara Wilkerson.
He is survived by: his sisters, Ruby Nell Dixon of Tyler and Aline E. Williams of Los Angeles, CA; his former wife Lillie Ross of Tifton, GA; his children, Richard Ross of Somerset, Dorothy J. Hughes Ross of Delran, Sabrina Ross of Somerset, Dr. Regina Ross of Longport and Lisa Mills (Mark) of Somerset; his nephew Cornel Lee Ross (Demaris) of Somerset; his grandson King Xavier Monteagudo of Somerset; and his close friend Chikongola Linton (Evelyn) of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
