He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Bell and Viola Bell; his wife Penelope "Pope"; and his siblings, Irving Bell and Viola Mullen.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Jesse Edmunds of West Deptford, Alex Kokos of Newnan and Georgia; and his stepgranddaughter Kate.
