He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Myles Sweeney and Eileen Sweeney; and his nephew Patrick Murray. He is survived by: his siblings, James Sweeney (Ann), Charles B. Sweeney (Robin), Patricia Reynolds (John) and Kathleen Sweeney; his nieces and nephews, Emily Reynolds, Caitlin McCormick (Colin), Samantha Sheil (Ross), James Sweeney (Ashley), Daniel Sweeney and Timothy Sweeney; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kensley, Kallie McCormick, Maeve, Isla Sweeney, Caleb Reynolds, Jonathan Reynolds, Shea Sweeney and Liam Shiel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Diabetes Foundation or St. Jude's Research Hospital.
