He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Pinto; his son Mark Pinto; his grandson James Pinto; and his siblings, Vincent, Philip Pinto and Mary Strack.

He is survived by: his sons, Dr. John R. Pinto (Eileen) and Jeffrey Pinto; his grandchildren, Jonas, Jennifer and Jeanine; and his great grandchildren, John James and Paige Thomas.
