He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Ethel Gahwyler; and his brother William. He is survived by: his wife Katherine "Kay" (Casey); his children, Barbara Jean (Michael Kaylor) and John Jr. (Susan); his grandchildren, Sydney Shea and Olivia Rose; and his siblings, Albert, Robert and Eileen. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
