He was predeceased by: his mother Helen Batta (Harrison); his sister Nancy Batta; his father Alex Batta; his parents-in-law, Robert and Rita Burdette; and his brother-in-law William Brady, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Alyce Batta; his children, George D. Jr. (Heather Batta), Leeanne (Ron Clarke), Michael J. (Carolyn Batta), Janet M. (Bill Pedrazzi) and Robert B. (Cynthia Batta); his grandchildren, Cassie, Dylan, Riley, Jack, Ryan, Kate, Lilly, Elle, Sophia, Benjamin, Maggie and Thomas; and his siblings, Joan and Robert VanPelt. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
