He was predeceased by: his parents, Christine Charlton and Philip Stephen Kern. He is survived by: his wife Michelle S. Kern (Miller); his brother Bruce Kern (Anna); his grandmother Muriel Hamer; and his brother-in-law Scott Miller. He is also survived by 2 nieces; many cousins, aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Popcorn Park Zoo / Associated Humane Societies, The Seeing Eye,.
