He is survived by: his wife Linda; his sisters, Margaret Kaiser (Donald "Don"), Jean Kelly (Daniel) and Kathleen Peterson; and his parents-in-law, James, Julia Swanson, John, Patricia Swanson, Kathy Swanson, Gerald, Linda Swanson, Nancy and Richard Thompson. He is also survived by his 21 nieces and nephews and 31 great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers Robert's family asks that donations go to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
