He was predeceased by: his daughter Jennifer Hermanns Pontecorvo; his parents, William Hermanns and Minna Hermanns; and his sister Inge Thompson. He is survived by: his son Billy Hermanns; his son-in-law David Levine of Los Angeles; his son Christopher Hermanns; his granddaughter Alexa of Midland Park; his son-in-law Michael Pontecorvo; and his grandson Michael (Pamela Fernandez) of Ho-Ho.
