He is survived by: his wife Sharon Briggs; his children, Dawn Moody (Zatiti) and James R. Briggs, Jr. (Kelly); his grandchildren, Kiana Briggs, Janai Briggs, James Briggs III, Khadija Moody, Jordyn Briggs and Akil Moody; his brothers, John and Joseph Briggs (Joslynn); his siblings-in-law, Dollyann Newkirk-Briggs, Eve Scott Briggs, Gail Briggs and Wiley Gaines; his godson Robert D. Freeman (RD); and his close friends, Pamela M. Powell and Paul Fernandez. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
