He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel and Irene Tanis; and his siblings, Dorothy Naughton (Dave), Joel (Kay), Walt and Charlie (Evelyn).
He is survived by: his wife Lynne Doherty Tanis; his children, Karen Westbrook (Jake), Kim Buri (Nils), Mike Tanis (Joanne) and Irene Musilli (Mark); and his sister-in-law Anne Tanis. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
